CELEBRATE!

Rara dancing after a soccer game in Marjofre last weekend was one of the featured activities during HHP's 10th-anniversary celebration of providing health services. It's no small feat to bring respectful healthcare to 22,000 people a year with a hobbled-together temporary government, non-existent infrastructure, and pervasive lawlessness. Fortunately, in the Sudest Department of Haiti, we are free of violence, AND we have an awesome group of Haitians to work with.
The soccer field was acquired by the Centre Social Dèveloppement Union de Grand-Gosier (CSDUG) to help keep youth motivated and away from gang activity.
HHP President Peter Halle and I meet with the members of the local body, CSDUG, that owns and runs the clinic, agricultural, sports, and microcredit programs in the region.
The backyard of our compound was a world kitchen as half a dozen women prepared food for 100 guests.
I brought the Atila Biosystem with me in a gigantic suitcase to initiate HPV self-testing, making us a model center throughout the country for state-of-the-art cervical cancer detection and treatment. Haiti has one of the highest cervical cancer rates in the world, with scant services for women.
Maternal and child health is a major focus of our outreach programs, which vaccinate kids, educates families about public health, and
screens and treats for malnutrition. Our doctors see thousands of patients in our community clinic of all ages.

All these photos were taken by my husband, Eliot Osborn, who came with us for the first time and took hundreds of wonderful shots. Thanks, El!!

We'll keep up the fight, encouraged by this first 10-year round. Thanks for being in the ring with us.
Warmly, Louise
